Episode 1

What started out as a simple, no-strings-attached relationship evolved into much more.

Maybe it was the jolt of electricity Nancy felt when she first met Jude, or Nancy fell in love with him and lost her senses. The first time they met, Jude could see the aurora dancing in her eyes. She was love struck.

Nancy and Jude met at a friend’s wedding, After the wedding, they both became fast friends and in few months, they started dating, Jude treated Nancy like a queen. Jude was an engineer and he was doing great for himself. Nancy thought that Jude was the right person for her.

She gave herself entirely to Jude, as she was in love with him. Jude was calling her and texting her every day. Actually- he was texting her 10 times a day. His texts were highly flirtatious, very aggressive and hard to resist. For example, one said, “Nancy, I can’t imagine my life with out you, Nancy you are my last bus stop, we will make beautiful babies together, one day”.

Tell me, what girl would not want to receive a text like that from a man she is smitten over!

Not only did Jude text her lots of sweet hopeful texts, he would also send her great and expensive gifts.

He was a perfect gentleman.

All Nancy could think about was spending the rest of her life with him, nothing else matters. Nancy was so beautiful that her beauty always attracted other men whom were begging for her attention, she bluntly told them she was taken.

“No one, had loved me like Jude and no one would be perfect and genuine like him” She had thought

Jude was just too perfect and Nancy adore him so much until one day, Nancy got a text message from an unfamiliar number

” Husband snatcher, Home breaker, leave My Husband Jude, alone or I will tear you apart. As you have refused to allow me enjoy my marriage in peace, your life will never know peace”

Nancy felt bad and shattered.

“So Jude is a married man, no….that can’t be true” She thought, she told Jude about the text and he told her to meet up with him in their usual place -A fancy bar

“My love is not what you think, let’s meet up and I will explain everything to you” He told Nancy.

Nancy went into a deep thought, she wondered why Jude had never invited him over to his house or introduce her to his friends and family. “we only meet up in the bar or an hotel, Jude is definitely hiding something” She thought

That same day, They finally met at the bar and Jude confessed “Nancy, yes I’m married with two children, two boys but I don’t love my wife anymore, She is giving me problems, We are sleeping in separate bedrooms, we are still staying together for the sake of our children, We both want a divorce and the lawyer is working on it, I’m leaving her very soon, I find it easier to talk to you than her, I’m not with you just for the sex, I just realized that marrying my wife was a big mistake, How I wish I met you before her, My life would be better with someone like you,

I love you, I want to marry you, please give me time to sort things out and then we will be together forever” Jude said calmly and Nancy believed all his lies.

They sat across from one another at the bar, reaching over the table to touch hands, caressing their thumbs. Nancy was quick to warm up to Jude as if being married was nothing, they joked, laughed and talked, Nancy sat in pure adoration. She loves Jude more than her own life.

Three years later, Jude was yet to divorce his wife and Nancy allowed Jude to continue to deceive her.

Whenever they met, The wedding band in Jude’s ring finger reminds her of the torture. Jude will then fumbles the wedding ring into his pocket, quick with fear, and will apologize for wearing the wedding band. “Its not what you think, I wear the wedding band for mere formalities, we will soon be together, don’t worry” Jude will always say. Nancy’s heart was in shambles but she was too in love with Jude and she can’t imagine life without him.

One would think after three years of dating a married man that Nancy might have figured out that their relationship had no future But no, she was so much in love as the first time they met.

Episode 2

One-day, Jude offered to take Nancy Out for shopping, They were in a shopping mall, After they had shopped for expensive clothings and accessories, Nancy needed to get some groceries, they were holding hands while Nancy shop for groceries, then they ran into a relative of Jude and Nancy had to “hide behind the oranges” in the groceries store, Jude had told her to hide, what a shame!, when she came out of hiding, she was in tears and Jude apologized “I’m so sorry that you had to hide, please don’t be angry.. I love you” Jude told her

Nancy was in tears, she wondered why she was still in love with him despite everything that she had been put through. They had to hide. Thier time together was constantly cut short so he would go home early enough to his family, She recalled how Jude would Make Up excuses to go home on time.

Nancy was jealous, angry and crazily in love, She hate being second in line, yet she was for three years.

Jude would tell her grand stories about how they will be together full-time someday. He would leave his wife and be with her. A small part of Nancy always believed him, but the rest of her knew better. Yet still she stayed for three long years, she chased potential suitors with the hope that Jude will keep to his word.

Jude and Nancy had such an intense connection that she was convinced living without him would be so much worse than enduring the agony of sharing him with his wife.

“Please don’t give up on our love, you know I love you, I’m sorry for everything you had to pass through just because we love each other, the reason I told you to hide is because I don’t want anything to jeopardise my divorce, My wife already knew about us and I don’t want more people who are related to her to see us together, please understand, I love you.” Jude consoled her, he wept two tears from her eyes.

Listening to him made Nancy feel much better. Jude reassured her of his love and he promised to marry her as soon as possible.

12 months later, Everything remained the same, Jude had not fulfilled half of his empty promises and it seems Nancy was getting back some of her lost senses, one warm evening in the month of March, Nancy was ready to let go of her unprogressive relationship with Jude. They met at the bar as usual.

She was filled with power and motivation to do the hardest thing she knew she needed to do. Her tears fell as fast as the first thunderstorm of the year.

“This relationship is not working, i’m done” She told him

“What are you saying?” Jude asked .

“I’m breaking up with you,” Nancy said.

“Maybe you should think about it more,” he pressed.

Nancy told him, “I won’t come to any different conclusion.It’s over.”

And that was it. There was no pomp and circumstance. Just plain cold truth. They spoke sparingly over the next few days and it eventually faded to no communication. In silence, Nancy’s world was ending. She gave up on love and on life. She stayed in bed all day and didn’t eat. She was thrown into depression. She was still broken.

And then one evening, Jude called Nancy, she reluctantly took the call. “I love you so much Nancy and i couldn’t function without you” He told Nancy “But you are not ready to leave your loveless marriage” Nancy entered

“I will, please wait for me, Could you wait? please. I need you. I will marry you, I will be a single man in August. I will be with you in September, we will get married and start our own family” Jude said softly .

“Yes, of course I would wait for you, I love you so much” Nancy said calmly and then he hanged up

The next few months were whirlwind of elation and doubt. Nancy and Jude were together nearly every day, as together as a hidden relationship allows them to be. Jude talked of long-term dreams, about thier future house and trips they would take and having kids eventually. Nancy’s heart longed for it and wanted to trust him. Her brain knew better but she ignored her brain and followed her heart, she sat by, clinging to hope, and news got to her that Jude has bought a new car for his wife. They got a new house and he moved with his family to thier new house.

Nancy was Jude’s part time girlfriend or rather his side chick. For fews hours every week, Jude was Nancy’s man. He loved her and worshipped her and spoke of thier future. But August came and September passed. The sun and moon rose and fell. And Nancy was still alone.

Jude didn’t leave his wife and he didn’t marry Nancy either.

He told Nancy they will be together in September. But when September came and passed, she accepted that she was foolish to trust Jude.

Two months later, the unfortunate thing happened. Nancy had been feeling feverish and nausea, she went to the hospital, after running some medical tests, she found out that she was pregnant. She thought that Jude would be excited to hear about it as he had often told her that he can’t wait to have babies with her. “Maybe this child will finally bring Jude and I together” She thought.

Jude had not called her ever since September ended, that afternoon when Nancy returned from the hospital, she called him on the phone “Hello Jude, I want to see you” Nancy said calmly

“What for? “Jude asked

“it’s important please” Nancy pleaded

That evening they met at thier usual bar and Nancy told Jude what had happened. And that was when the final shocking revelation of him presented itself before Nancy.

In all Nancy’s entire life as a lady, he hadn’t seen a sane man act the manner that Jude had acted that day.

“Are you that foolish?” he said sharply and flung Nancy like a piece of rag from the chair where they both sat on. “Is this how desperate you are? You think you can hook me with a pregnancy?, you can’t trap me down with a pregnancy, You must be mad! You must be very stupid! Yes, you are very stupid! I’m a happily married man and I have no plans to end my marriage with my beautiful wife because of a foolish lady like you, I don’t feel anything for you except pity,..”

Nancy could not believe her ears. Jude left Nancy at the bar that evening after he had warned her sternly not to call him ever again.

That evening, Nancy made a new friend, A well built handsome stranger, he was at the bar and he saw how Jude humiliated her, but immediately Jude left and Nancy broke down in tears, The handsome stranger walked up to Nancy and offered her a new handkerchief to dry her tears.

“I don’t know what transpired between you and that man but he had no right to treat you the way he did, he is a stupid man ” The stranger said calmly, he took her outside the bar for fresh air, Nancy was just staring at the handsome young man, who appeared to be concerned about her, “Stop crying, it’s okay, you can tell me anything you want, my name is John” The Stranger said calmly.

After listening to Nancy’s story, the nice stranger, just looked at Nancy with pity and said something that she will never forget in a hurry.

“I don’t know what is wrong with you young girls nowadays, Always do your investigations before you fall in love with any man. Dating a married man is like falling in love with a rental house thinking that one day your landlord will hand it over to you for free, you would have broken up with him, when you found out that he was a married man”.

As John spoke that night outside the bar, Nancy kept sniffling and crying dejectedly beside him imagining the bleak future that awaited her. She suddenly hated herself and wanted to commit suicide. She kept crying. She was too depressed and angry with herself that all she wanted to do when she gets home that evening was to end her life but the nice stranger was an angel, He consoled her, drove her home and offered to be her new friend. “I’m here for you, here is my number, call me if you need anything, don’t cry anymore, all will be well.” John told her

From that very day, John and Nancy became friends, he was a true friend as he stood by her, he began to act as an angel in Nancy’s life. Few months later, John proposed to her and he met Nancy’s parents. Nancy’s parents liked him immediately. No one will doubt that John was not responsible for Nancy’s pregnancy.

He also took Nancy to his parents and they showered Nancy with love and they accepted her immediately into their family as their daughter in-law, in no time John and Nancy got married in grand style and in few months, Nancy delivered a baby girl who they named Catherine, no one ever knew that John isn’t the biological father of Catherine because of how much he loved the little girl.

Years passed and Nancy had identical twins, two boys for her husband. John cherished his wife and children and everyday he worked very hard to ensure they had the best life they deserved. But Nancy was not in love with him, no matter how hard she tried to fall in love with John her husband, she couldn’t bring herself to love him but on the other hand, John love her so much and he could do anything for her happiness.

Nancy felt John was not her type of man, marrying John was the only option she had few years ago to cover up her shameful pregnancy. As time goes on, Nancy’s behavior towards her husband changed, she began to show him that she really don’t care about him at all, she was always ungrateful and disrespectful, whenever John calls her from work to say “my love,get ready am taking you out for dinner” she will reply “am too tired”.

Poor John works all day, and has to deal with his ungrateful wife and so many other things but he always tried to make sure that his wife felt loved and cared for but Nancy was always ungrateful and unappreciative towards him

but still John never stopped loving her and her daughter Catherine.

Still no one suspected that Catherine was not her biological daughter, he loved Catherine, the same way he loved his two biological sons.

Each day, all Nancy think of, was to institute a divorce against him,

She developed a disrespectful behaviour towards her husband. she talks to him, carelessly and rudely, even in the presence of thier children and in public. When John first observed it, he felt extremely bad but he ignored her.

One weekend, he decided to addressed it “My love why are you always rude to me like I don’t matter to you, what have i ever done wrong to deserve your rude behavior?” John said calmly but Nancy promised to do even worse.

“You tricked me into becoming your wife, I was only pregnant, you took advantage of my problems and you forced me into this marriage, this is not the kind of life, I want for myself, you are not My Husband and you will never be” Nancy said at once

John picked his jaw, he wondered what had came over his wife.

“After two children, it’s now you realized that I forced you into marrying me, hear your self speak, I never knew you were pretending to be a good person, I never knew you deserved the way your ex treated you, you are very foolish” John said angrily

“You don’t have to understand me. I’m just tired of this marriage that’s all, I will make your life miserable, if you don’t end this marriage, John I don’t love you, I never loved you and I know you don’t love me either, you married me out of pity and I don’t want to be pitied any more” Nancy told him

Nancy could see it in John’s eyes, that he had no clue of what she was talking about, all this years, he had thought, Nancy was happy with him. But how could he get Nancy, it was not like their marriage was forced, he proposed to her and she accepted. Neither did he force himself on her while she was pregnant and they made love for the first time, two years after she delivered Catherine.

Even though, their sex life has always been on and off. You know, the type were they could stop making love for six months or more However, the moment they met – instead of being strangers, John immediately took up on himself to console Nancy and cover her shame and she willingly accepted his help.

He had thought forever after with Nancy would be an easy road. If only he knew better, he wouldn’t have gotten married to Nancy. The feeling of missing out on a lot of things that life offered had always got him so mad every time his parents brought up the issue of marriage but when he met Nancy few years ago, one look at her at the bar, he fell helplessly in love with her.

“Nancy, You are scaring me, what do you mean by everything you just said, tell me you are joking.” John said as he smiled faintly but Nancy fell into a deep thoughts

“I don’t know, how am I going to break it to John that I can’t do this anymore?” She thought

John was a good man and a good father. Every word that came out of Nancy’s mouth was against her, she thought of how much John had helped her and how much he loves his daughter, she burst into tears, suddenly her voice became cold, John felt frightened to listen to what Nancy had to say “John, I appreciate you for everything you have done for me and I know that you deserve all my love and respects but the issue is that I don’t feel anything for you, I don’t Love you, I am sorry we got married, i feel trapped in this marriage, I don’t love you like a woman should love a man, the feelings I have for you is that of a good friend, you deserve better …I AM SORRY, I don’t love you, I hope you understand” Nancy said in tears. John had never felt pain like he felt that day, in his entire life, He was broken within and he felt terrible, He quietly walked out on her, he was shattered beyond words

If only he could turn back the hands of time, he wouldn’t offer to be Nancy’s friend or step in to cover her shame. He was an amazing father to Catherine and a good husband to Nancy but all he got in return was an ungrateful wife. Everything felt unfair to him that he wept bitterly like a child.

Catherine clearly heard their conversation and she heard the part where her mother bluntly said that he had no feelings for her father, She wondered why and walked to her father, immediately John heard her coming, he wiped his tears and pretended as if he was not crying

“Dad, stop crying, I heard what mom said, she is so mean and I don’t like her anymore, she always pick a fight with you and it’s wrong” Catherine said as John was amazed at her intelligence.

Catherine was just 8 years but she was sensitive like an adult.

John just kept silent for a while and finally, he said “Your mom doesn’t mean what she said, she’s just having a bad day, my child you misunderstood the whole thing, you are still a child and its not everything you will understand, when you grow up you will understand better, never disrespect your mother or stop loving her for any reason, because she is your mother” John said calmly and lovingly he changed the topic “Go and call your brothers let’s go out for some ice cream” he added

And Catherine left excitedly.

That same day, John took his children out to get some ice cream at a fast food outlet nearby and he met a beautiful Lady, She works in the fast food as an attendant, The young Lady was extremely beautiful and has a beautiful smile, She was polite and she quickly warmed up to the children, John liked her immediately he saw how nice she handled his children, after John paid the bill, John politely requested for her name

“Mabel” The beautiful Lady said calmly .

“Nice to meet you Mabel, My name is John, see you some other time” John told her

“Thank you very much sir” Mabel said and turned to Catherine and her brothers “Good bye children” She uttered in a playful manner.

“Goodbye” The children chorused.

Ever since that day, John couldn’t stop thinking about Mabel.

John couldn’t get his mind off the beautiful and polite fast food attendant, Mabel had caught his attention. He kept questioning himself and wondering why he was drawn to her. He was love struck but hadn’t realised yet!

“why can’t I just get my thoughts off this lady?” He asked himself but couldn’t provide an answer. The more he tried to get the fast food attendant off his head, the more he thought about her.

Nancy seems to have realized her mistakes, Catherine her daughter has spoken some sensible words to her, “Mom, I saw Dad, crying the other day, when you told him that you don’t love him, Mom why will you say such words to him, Dad loves you and you broke his heart” Catherine had told her and Nancy felt guilty as she reminisced on how loving and caring John was when she was pregnant with Catherine and how he pampered her when she was pregnant with the twins.

“What has come over me?, I’m so ungrateful and foolish, John is a good man and deserves to be appreciated and loved, he is my best friend and my husband, Why i’m I complicating my own life?, God loves me so much, that’s why he gave me a good man like him despite everything I have done wrong, I dated Jude a married man for more than five years and still God gave me a second chance at life” She thought and gradually she had began to have a change of heart, She was eager to learn how to fall in love with her husband, She began to think on John’s good Qualities.

“John love me so much and he deserves my love” She told herself but John’s heart was no longer with her but with the Fast Food attendant, Mabel.

Two weeks later, John was driving home when Nancy’s call came in.

He was shocked but he received her call. “Hello” John said and she greeted her husband politely

“John, there’s this new restaurant in our area, I’m thinking we should go there tonight” Nancy said

“Hmmmm, I’m too tired” John replied and hanged up immediately, Nancy felt bad because that was how she always sounded on the phone each time John asked her out.

As John drove, his thought went to the fast food attendant- Mabel. He tried to shut down every thought of her but it was almost impossible, he decided to visit the fast food instead of returning back home.

In no time, John arrived at the fast food and gently walked in. The first place his eyes went to was the counter; and standing there was the ever smiling Mabel, John smiled in excitement as he walked closer to the counter, Mabel was attending to some customers and it will not be nice to distract her at work, he thought as he managed to walk down to the counter.

“Goodevening sir” Mabel greeted immediately her eyes went to John. “please what can I offer you sir?” She asked

“A pack of juice and two chicken…. Pie” John stammered Just as John was waiting for his order,

“Your bill is 2000″Mabel entered, John was bringing out his wallet to pay his bill and Mabel added “is it take away or you are having it here sir?”

The question gave him some ideas

“I’m having it here!” John said instantly as he paid his bill.

“This is 4000, your bill is 2000” Mabel said

“Yes I know, keep the change” he said without making eye contacts with her. “Wow, thank you so much, please have your seat sir, I’ll bring your order to you” Mabel said smiling, The beautiful smile on her face made John more nervous but he acted cool.

John quickly obeyed as he sat down.

While John waited, he couldn’t take his eyes off Mabel, He watched her every move and was smitten by her gorgeousness and her wonderful smile. It was then that he noticed her beautiful face and dimples on her face each time she smiled to other customers. John was love strucked, “Mabel, where have you been all my life? I wish I met you before now” He thought

Some minutes later, Just as he was about to think further about Mabel and how he was going to approach her, he saw her walking close to him with a tray. Immediately, he comported himself and cleared his dry throat. His heart skipped several beats and he was nervous , “ah ah! why I’m I so nervous?” He asked himself, Mabel walked closer.

“Here you go sir! So sorry for keeping you waiting” she politely said, “It’s okay” John replied and smiled

John wanted to start a conversation with her but he was too nervous to utter a word.

“What about your children, you didn’t come with them today?” Mabel entered

“They are…. Fine, I’m coming from my… Place of work, thank you ” John managed to say

John was impressed by her thoughtfulness and the care in her eyes when she inquired About his children. “You are welcome sir, enjoy your meal” she said and was about leaving, when John stopped her and said “Mabel, I want to know more about you, can I call you sometimes?” John said calmly

“of course sir” Mabel said and she gave him, her phone number and finally she left.

From that day John would call Mabel, from time to time and she would do the same. There friendship immediately took over, John would come to see her or take her out almost every Saturday, when she is not working. The more they spend time with each other the more they developed feelings for each other.

John had told Mabel that he was a married man but his wife doesn’t love him

“John, I don’t date married men, if you are really into me, then go ahead and divorce your wife, maybe then or only then will I believe you truly love me” Mabel had told him constantly

“I love you so much and I will do anything for you, divorcing my wife will not be a problem cause my wife wants our marriage to end as well, we got married out of convenience and we both regretted our decision” John had told her

On the other hand Nancy was doing everything possible to win back her husband’s attention and love, she decided to seduce him “It has been so long we had sex and there’s nothing love making doesn’t solve, I will have to get John to make love to me”She had thought

One morning, John woke up around 7:00am, he quickly ran into the bathroom and he dashed out few minutes after , he was running late for work, “Today, I will be having a meeting with our new investors and I need to be prepared before they arrive for the meeting” He thought as he clad into a white shirt.

John appeared to be in a hurry and then Nancy walked into the room with a towel wrapped around her, and walked up to thier wardrobe facing the small black dressing mirror as she danced and sang. It wasn’t a dance, it was more of her moving her body in front of the mirror. But as she kept moving her body, the towel fell off, revealing her banging naked body, John quickly looked away as he pretended as if he saw nothing and the next minutes, he left with out uttering a word to Nancy.

All through the meeting, John couldn’t get his mind of Nancy’s body,

But things didn’t go as Nancy had thought, instead after the meeting, John ended up calling Mabel to see how she was doing. Mabel was so glad to hear from him.

She inquired about his family and children.

“My children will be in school by now”John replied

“And your wife?”Mabel threw in and there was silence for a while

“hmm, she is okay, we barely speak to each other” finally John replied and rolled his eyes, his thoughts went to his wife’s naked body but immediately he comported himself

“Are you sure? I hope you are not deceiving me, my Heart is fragile, please don’t break my heart” Mabel finally said

“I will never hurt you, there’s nothing between me and my wife, we are just like room mates” John said,

when John hanged up, he was surprised to see missed calls from his wife, “What does she want?” He thought as he dropped down his phone to continue with his work, he had no intention of calling her, after all, she had told him that she had no feelings for him and he meant nothing to her.

That evening, John came home late, as usual, he spent his evening with Mabel, he was doing everything possible to be intimate with her but she had insisted he divorce his wife and only then can they be intimate, John had decided to meet his Lawyer the next morning to prepare a divorce papers but when he remembered his children, “What if Nancy gains the custody of our children, oh no, I don’t want that, I want the children to remain with me” He thought and finally he forced him self to sleep.

While John was asleep, Nancy who was awake the whole time got hold of his phone, she almost collapsed when she saw romantic text messages that John sent to Mabel

” I knew it, John is seeing another woman” She thought as she copied Mabel’s phone number into her own phone.

“I will call her and warn her to stay away from my husband” She thought.

The next day, John called his lawyer and he instructed him to prepare a divorce agreement between him and his wife and that he wants to gain custody of his children if that will be possible.

Unknowingly to John, Nancy heard his phone conversation with the lawyer that morning, She was shattered but yet she acted cool.

John quickly hanged up immediately he heard her coming.

That Day, When John left for work, Nancy burst into tears as she remembered all the time, she pushed him away

“John is not only having an affair but he wants divorce, It’s all my fault, I took his love for granted, please Lord I know I have been a fool, you gave me another chance to love, when you brought John into my life, I was at the verge of committing suicide that night because of how Jude humiliated me but you sent John to my life, he stepped in and everything became perfect again, he loves my daughter and he takes good care of us, I don’t know what came over me, please Lord, I don’t want to lose him, please give me another chance to correct my mistake, I know that I dated a married man and now I will have to face Karma” She said as tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes. Catherine and the twins were at school and all through that day, Nancy was in a deep thought, she was devastated and wondered how she was going to win back the love of her husband.

She decided to text Mabel to stay away from John, her husband as she was typing the message, her thought went to the text message she received from Jude’s wife many years ago and how she quickly told Jude about it.

“Definitely Mabel will tell my husband about the text and it will cause more rift between us, I’m reaping what I sowed long time ago, I dated Jude a married man and now Mabel is dating my own husband, the worst is that i pushed John into her arms, Lord, please forgive me, I’m so sorry” She thought as she sobs

Nancy became a shadow of herself, she was always depressed and she constantly had a dream where John handed the divorce papers to her to sign, she will wake up in fear and she would burst into tears. “How can I get John to be passionate with me again?, he is so distant towards me” She thought as she sobs.

She decided to apologize to Her husband for everything she had done wrong, hoping against hope that apologizing to John, would make John to find some solace and in turn take his mind off divorcing her.

Nancy’s thoughts run wild as she thought about how she behaved rudely towards John and how broken he might have been when she confessed that she was not in love with him, She felt defeated because she knew a simple apology will never fix things with her husband.

But she was determined to take a step towards reconciliation that will signal to her husband that she was willing to admit her own faults. “I must Apologize for everything I have done and said wrong and for all the ways in which i humiliated him” She thought.

One evening, John came back on time, he was with the divorce papers, he had signed and he had decided that after dinner, he would hand over the papers for Nancy to sign as well.

“You are apologizing for what exactly?, for your rude and disrespectful behavior or for not appreciating my love?” John entered sharply as thier children stared at them

John was pleasantly impressed by Nancy’s maturity, He appreciated her for making the first step and he decided not to give her the divorce papers yet.

But unknown to Nancy, that single first move of apology, had set the tone for thier future interactions.

One night, John laid on the bed beside his wife and he was consumed by thoughts

“Does Nancy think about me?”“I wonder if she fantasizes about sex with me, I wonder if she has fallen in love with me now, does she know that I’m seeing Mabel?” he thought

All those wild thoughts pushed him to make the first move towards a possible reconciliation with his wife Nancy. He was curious and he was longing for Nancy, and when he lovingly woke up Nancy that night, he asked her “Do you have feelings for me now?”.

Nancy was so shocked but excited, she held her husband’s hands and said

Due to the heavy traffic that morning, Nancy and John arrived two hours after, Nancy waited for her husband to walk into the compound and few minutes later, she followed him into the compound.

“I will know exactly what John has been hiding from me today” Nancy thought

John got to Mabel’s apartment, he knocked on the door severally and he got no response and that got him worried.

“I hope Mabel have not drank the poison” He thought

John recalled how broken Mabel was when he broke up with her, She couldn’t utter a word as tears rolled uncontrollably from her eyes. Unknown to John, Mabel had always struggled with some type of depression. Since her days in college and in the university. Her depression got worst when John broke up with her

As a young girl, Mabel never felt good enough, no matter what kind of success she had in school or in life. she had a very low self-esteem and was by far her own worst critic. She never felt like she fit in, She constantly had thoughts of “you are not good enough, you are a loser, a failure”. These thoughts did push her to try harder when she was still in school.

She thought if She could be the best at everything, all her troubles would go away. But nothing really gave her true Joy.

This continued through college and into her university days and when she graduated, all her friends got good jobs except for her and she ended up working at a fast food joint, although she was still making money and her Job at the fast food was like a good distraction, because it kept her in the moment, the Job always seemed to tired her out physically but her job made her less depressed

Mabel was a graduate from a renowned private University. She studied accountancy and she hailed from a middle class family.

After graduation, She looked everywhere for a befitting Job but found none except for the fast food Job, she was not lacking Money but she took up the job at the fast food to get herself busy and to feel less numb, because she gets no satisfaction from anything, and always felt lost and confused whenever she was alone.

Mabel always knew something was wrong with her but was terrified of telling anyone not even her family, she thought that if she did, people would think she was crazy, weak, or would reject her. she cared a lot about what people thought of her and she tried hard to live up to their expectations. So she hid her struggles, hid how bad she felt, how lonely she felt. she focused all her attention on working at the fast food, wearing a fake smile always.

She had left her parents and lived on her own ever since she turned 27 years old. When she left home to live alone, she finally felt good about herself. She put her best into her Job, She thought That if she could just pretend to be happy, that it would stop all the negative thoughts running through her head.

She kept this up for many years, working hard and pretending she had it all together with a big smile on her face always, every customers at the fast food seems to fall in love with her beautiful smile. But she was uncomfortable in her own skin. She felt like a fake because she was not being the real her, but she was too scared to let anyone in on the secret. There was no way, she was going to show anyone that she was weak, depressed or that she needed help.

Nobody, not even her closest friends knew she was struggling with major depression. she was a master at hiding her true feelings and acting like everything was good. Until John walked into her life and made her feel special and along the line, she fell in love with him despite how hard she tried not to.

After John broke up with her, Her depression grew worse, because she felt like a total failure again.

A major depression is simply a matter of brain chemistry. Levels of specific brain chemicals, nerve cell connections, nerve cell growth, and the functioning of nerve circuits have a major impact on depression.

John was panicking as his wife watched him from afar. John forced the door open and he was shocked to see a weak Mabel on the floor

As John stopped Mabel from talking, Blood oozed out of her mouth.

John was tired of the whole situation.

“If anything bad happens to you, I will be held responsible, how could you drink a whole bottle of poison, what were you thinking?” John said in fear.

Unknowingly to John, Nancy heard all he said, she was at the door, she almost collapsed when she heard that Mabel drank a bottle of poison. She ran into the unlocked door, John almost jumped out of his skin when he saw his wife. “She drank poison?, Let’s rush her to the hospital”Nancy entered, John was relieved that his wife was there, he explained everything to her but Nancy was more interested in saving Mabel’s life.

They rushed Mabel to the hospital and she was wheeled into the emergency room, John reported everything to the police while Nancy went through Mabel’s Phone, he was having a hard time to unlock Mabel’s phone, “Honey, we need to call her friends or family member, but her phone has a lock pattern”

She said.

Few minutes later, the police arrived and they were able to reach Mabel’s parents through the help of her neighbor.

In few minutes, an aged couple arrived with a well built young man they introduced themselves to the police inspector as Mabel’s parents and the well built young man was introduced as their son and also as Mabel’s elder brother.

Nancy had been so worried ever since they got Mabel to the hospital, she was praying for a miracle. She was sitting beside her husband assuring him that Mabel will be fine. Nancy was still consoling her husband, when the police men walked towards them with Mabel’s parents and her elder brother.

Immediately they came more closer, One stare at Mabel’s elder brother. Nancy was shocked and speechless, she lost words as she stared at Mabel’s Brother.

The police quickly introduced him and his parents. Mabel’s brother was also speechless as he stared speechlessly at Nancy.

“Jude! ” Nancy finally said as tears rolled from her eyes.

“Nancy, What are you doing here?” Jude asked as John stared at them in confusion.

The policemen were unaware of what was going on. They quickly left with Mabel’s parents for the doctor’s office to find out if Mabel was responding to treatment.

Immediately they left, John left as well, Leaving Jude and Nancy staring at each other without uttering a word, John was so exhausted and the worst was that Jude was not just Mabel’s brother but his wife’s ex lover.

“Today is not a good day at all, Mabel tried to kill herself and her brother turned out to be Jude. My wife’s ex lover, who she loved with all her heart, how am I sure that Nancy is not still in love with him because it took Nancy a long time to fall in love with me” He thought as he sat under the tree at the hospital’s huge compound.

Immediately Nancy was able to comport herself, she looked everywhere for John, she wondered when he left, Jude was still staring at her without saying a word and Nancy then turned around to leave.

“Nancy, please wait” Jude said calmly

“Wait for who?” Nancy said at once and hissed

“How are you doing?”He asked politely but Nancy didn’t utter a word

“What about our child?” Jude added

“Go and ask Google, foolish man” Nancy said as she walked out on him, Jude was just staring at her as she left, when the police inspector finally explained everything to Jude, “Your younger sister attempted suicide because of the man you just met, his name is John, He is a married man and that lady, you met with him is his wife, your Sister drank poison because of a married man who wants nothing to do with her anymore, I saw the text message your sister sent to him this morning and with a picture of a bottle containing poison” The police inspector narrated

As the police inspector was narrating everything to Jude, He recalled how he humiliated Nancy at the bar, 9 years ago when she told her that she was pregnant.

” Karma is Real, the same way I deceived Nancy, My Sister was deceived too and the worst was that she was deceived by Nancy’s husband, assuming Nancy knew my sister, I would have thought it was a conspiracy” He thought as tears rolled down from his eyes.

Immediately news got to Nancy and John that Mabel was conscious, they left without saying goodbye to anyone.
